Rugs Daily Maintenance Guide

Daily Maintenance

Carpets are made of wool or fiber textiles. Due to the properties of the material and the manufacturing process, friction during initial use may cause hidden debris and fibers to surface, resulting in normal shedding. During the early stages, frequent vacuuming is necessary. Over time, carpets tend to absorb dust from the air and collect debris and hair from daily activities. To prevent bacteria and mites from breeding, ensure vacuuming 1-2 times a week. Regular maintenance also makes future cleaning easier.

Stain Removal

Daily life often involves eating, watching TV, playing with kids, or spending time with pets. Inevitably, accidents happen—spilled drinks, dropped food, vomit, or pet-related messes on the carpet. Don’t panic! Address stains promptly to minimize damage. Big problems can become small, and small problems can disappear altogether!

  1. Spilled Drinks or Food Grease
    • Immediately use a dry cloth or paper towel to absorb the liquid.
    • Dampen a clean cloth with water to wipe the stained area.
    • Use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture repeatedly until the stain is gone.
    • For stubborn stains, dampen a cloth with a small amount of vinegar (or dish soap) mixed with water to clean, or use a specialized cleaning agent directly.
  2. Hair and Dander
    • Use a vacuum cleaner to remove hair and pet fur tangled in the carpet fibers.
    • Sticky tape or a lint roller can help lift hair off the surface.
    • Alternatively, wear rubber gloves and run your hand along the carpet in the direction of the fibers. The friction from the gloves will pull out hair and debris embedded in the fibers. Remove the debris immediately to prevent re-depositing it during cleaning.
  3. Vomit and Excrement
    • Promptly remove solid debris and use paper towels to absorb any residue.
    • Dilute laundry detergent with water and use a soft brush or sponge to gently scrub the affected area.
    • For lingering odors, sprinkle baking soda on the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once it absorbs the odor and residual moisture, vacuum it up.
